Friday Face Off is a weekly meme created by Books by Proxy, and run by Lynn’s Book Blog. You can check out all my past Friday Face Offs here.

Its been a few months since I’ve done a FFO post, but I thought it would be a fun way to end Wyrd & Wonder before I write my wrap up post!!

This weeks theme:  Silhouette – an island, a person, anything you like

My Choice: Crooked Kingdom

I’m not sure if the Crow is silhouetted or just black, but there is a super tiny silhouette of the town along the bottom of the first two covers too!

Orion Children’s Books 2016 | Knaur eBook 2018 | Orion Children’s Books 2019 | Milan 2017

Urban Reads 2017 | Gutenberg 2017 | Prometejs 2018 | Unknown

Least Favorites:

I’ve seen the left cover tons of times but I never before realized that the gaps between the cow’s feathers make buildings!

Which is your favorite? Do you agree with my choice? Let me know in the comments!!

  1. What a brilliant choice of book! And while I am VERY tempted with your choice, the colour junkie in me is drawn to the Knaur cover, which just pops with that gorgeous fire-orange backdrop…

  2. Oh myyy. I hadn’t seen any alternative covers for Crooked Kingdom, and I’m really having some buyer’s remorse now that I know what’s out there. Also, slight remorse at not, in fact, speaking/reading any of these languages, but pfft, that’s obviously not the important thing. Pretty covers are what’s important!

Actually, I agree that your choice is my favorite, and that looks like French, right? I can read French! Hmm. *schemes how to get this cover copy* I also feel a little silly, because with how many times I’ve seen the US cover, I also never realized that the feathers were buildings. xD Obviously, my observational skills are top notch.

    1. Haha especially if you have a version you can read already, then there is no real reason the second edition you buy has to be in a language you can read 😂😂

I used Google Translate Detect Language and it is french!! Maybe once all this Covid stuff is over you can travel to France to get it 😉 😀 And I’m glad I’m not the only one that didn’t notice the buildings in the feathers!
