Friday Face Off: Winter

Friday Face Off is a weekly meme created by Books by Proxy, and run by Lynn’s Book Blog. You can check out all my past Friday Face Offs here.

“Now is the winter of our discontent, Made glorious summer by this sun of York.”

This weeks theme:  A cover that puts you in mind of winter.

Winter is actually last week’s theme, but I missed last week because I was in Vegas! And I like Winter better than a temple or religious icon, so I am going to do last weeks prompt!

My Choice: Spinning Silver!!!

I have done Spinning Silver before, but at the time there were really only 2 different covers and now there are a lot more!

Covers:

Del Rey 2018 | Random House 2018 | Pan Macmillan 2018 | Pan 2019

Planeta 2019 | cbj 2019 | Gabo 2018

Vorto Palabra 2019 | Yedioth 2019 | Nemira 2019

Least Favorites:

Favorites:

I actually really like all the covers except my two in the least favorites section.  It was really hard to narrow it down to only 4 favorites!

Winner:

I love the warmth of the green dress against the stark white of the forest, but what is the random tree thing covering half of the dress?

I also love how badass she looks on the right cover, and I love the little details around everything!

Which is your favorite? Do you agree with my choice? Let me know in the comments!!

  1. Oh wow, I really shouldn’t be surprised that there are so many covers for this book as I’m sure there are tons of editions/translations etc. But wow and they’re all so pretty?! 😍 I’ve got the MacMillan edition but I really like the Nemira edition and the Random House one is pretty gorgeous too! Great post 🙂

  2. I meant to read this book this year but that didn’t pan out haha. I have to agree with you choices. The original cover is gorgeous, but I do have a soft spot for the UK cover, mainly because I own it and it matches the cover for Uprooted haha.

  3. I can’t believe how tough the religious theme was so going with the winter theme was an excellent choice. I love some of these covers and having a tie is definitely understandable. I love the cover with the green dress.

  4. Oh this is great! I’ve been devouring wintry books lately, ever since I read The Bear and the Nightingale and The Great Alone. I never knew wintry books could be so cozy!
