Top 5 Tuesday is hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm. It is a weekly meme where you pick your top 5 books for a given topic.
This weeks’s theme is supposed to be “Top 5 Books I Don’t Talk About Enough!” but there are way too many of those to choose from, so I am going to pick my favorite books that don’t have enough love on Goodreads!
To give you a reference point here are the number of ratings on some popular books:
- Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone – 6,077,886 ratings
- Pride and Prejudice – 2,624,543 ratings
- The Cruel Prince – 107,935 ratings
- Geekerella – 32,950 ratings
All of the book on my list this week have less than 2,000 ratings
Sherwood
1,877 ratings · 635 reviews
Average Rating = 3.69
I know this was only released in March but I loved it and I am super surprised it doesn’t have more reviews!
The Lady Travelers Guide to Scoundrels & Other Gentlemen
1,159 ratings · 286 reviews
Average Rating = 3.63
This was a fun adventure of a romance novel! It had a unique plot and I enjoyed it!
X-Men: Kitty Pryde & Wolverine
445 ratings · 41 reviews
Average Rating = 3.75
This is the first graphic novel I ever read and I don’t actually know if it is any good but I will always remember it fondly!
Austentatious: The Evolving World of Jane Austen Fans
38 ratings · 24 reviews
Average Rating = 3.55
This being both a new book and a non-fiction book, I am not surprised it has so few ratings, but I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves Jane Austen adaptations!
Dealt the Devil’s Hand
15 ratings · 2 reviews
Average Rating = 3.93
This book baffles me. This is the first ever romance novel I remember reading and I loved it, but how did 12 year old me acquire a book that has only 15 ratings on goodreads? Where did I get it?!?!?! I have a physical copy of it. Why was I even allowed to read it? Also I didn’t know that it was the second book in a series. I literally found that out while writing this post. And whats more, there are 18 books in the series? So random!
I read a lot of X-Men but never did read Kitty & Wolverine, oddly enough! And Sherwood just looks awesome. 🙂

Sherwood was awesome! And I haven’t actually read that much X-Men but I did read Kitty and Wolverine 😂 😂

What a great way to share books that we may not have heard of but are really good reads! I like the sound of Austentatious and Sherwood. They were both in your summer reads tag, right? I can’t wait to try them! 😃 also, thanks for tagging me! It looks so fun and made my day ❤️

Thanks 😊😊 And they were both in my summer reads tag haha 😂 😂 They are both pretty awesome! I think its only a matter of time before Sherwood has lots of reviews since it is still new, but I think Austentatious definitely needs some extra love! ❤ You're Welcome!

Love this topic. But I’ve found most of my favorite books tend to have less than 2,000 ratings lol.

Thanks 😀 Pre-blogging a lot of my books were super random picks, but now I read a lot more hyped books because I get really excited when everyone else is talking about them!

I have owned Sherwood for awhile and haven’t gotten to it yet (story of my life), but it looks so good and I’m happy to hear how much you enjoyed it.

Haha I have so many books that I own and have been meaning to read but never gotten too 😂 You are not alone! I hope you love Sherwood if you get to it!

I find my more newly published reads have the least number of ratings and stupidly that was only something that I just realized recently when I was looking at my GR list for my more ‘underrated’ reads 😂

Haha oops! Its ok 😀 I still included Sherwood on my list even though I know it only made the cut because it was new! New books need more love too ❤

Sherwood! I will be listening to the audiobook of that soon, so I’ll be able to add my rating to the GR list. But yet, I’m also surprised that there aren’t at least 2,000 ratings yet.
And I have to say, your comment about “why was I even allowed to read it” hit home! I remember I had a couple of early romance books when I was young that I can’t now figure out why I was allowed to read them, either. (I didn’t keep my copies of them, sadly, so I don’t remember anything more than a very basic idea of what they were about.)

I was surprised too! Maybe everyone owns it cuz the cover is pretty but its still new enough noone has gotten around to reading it yet? 😂 😂 I hope you love it! I thought it was amazing ❤
Haha I'm glad I'm not the only one! My guess is my parents didn't even notice what I was reading because I was always reading 😂 but who knows! And I am the same way, I have a lot of books I have vague memories of what they were. This is just one random book that I own and even more randomly still have 😂

That could be! The cover is really pretty.
For the most part my parents kept good tabs on what I was reading, though they never tried to stop me from reading anything I was really interested in. And I didn’t try to hide books from them or anything, but I guess because they let me read whatever I was interested in, it never crossed my mind that these were weird books for me to be reading. I might have gotten them at a book fair or something? Oh man, I used to LOVE book fairs.

Book fairs were the best!! I wish they had adult book fairs! (stores don’t count 😂 😂 ) I also remember those scholastic catalog things and circling all the books I wanted! I loved those too!

Hahah omg that last one took a turn. 😂 I’m super guilty of reading books that I shouldn’t have been reading as a kid, and my parents didn’t care/notice. But I think I turned out mostly okay! 😛 And I can’t wait to check out Sherwood!

Haha glad I am not the only one! I think I read too much and my parents gave up trying to keep track 😂 And I think I turned out ok too 😉 I hope you like Sherwood if you read it 😀

Oh, this is a great topic. I usually have a square on my bingo challenge for a book with low ratings because, hey, underrated books! Love that this highlights some. (Again, I really need to read Austentatious!)
