Friday Face Off: Pirate

Friday Face Off is a weekly meme created by Books by Proxy, and run by Lynn’s Book Blog.

“I’m disinclined to acquiesce to your request.”

This weeks theme:  A cover featuring Pirates.

My Choice: Daughter of the Pirate King

I’m super excited for this topic! I love pirates 😀 And I know where the topic quote came from! (I almost never recognize the quote)

Feiwel & Friends ARC | Feiwel & Friends 2017 | Book Club 2018 (Russian) | Filia 2019 (Polish)

Least Favorite:

I love the ships and the title, but the girl doesn’t look anything like I pictured Alosa to look like, so it ruins the whole cover.

This is going to be a super tough decision! I love the cover on the left because it is the edition I own and got signed by Tricia Levenseller at Denver Comic Con, but the one on the right is so pretty!

As much as it pains me not to pick the original cover, this one is just to pretty! I love it.

Which is your favorite? Do you agree with my choice? Let me know in the comments!!

  1. This is a book I keep meaning to get around to reading as I love sea adventures. And yes – i completely agree with your choice – what a fantastic cover! As for the girl on your least favourite selection – am I the only one who looked at it and wondered why she had ships for legs?

  2. I do love that Polish cover with the hidden details in the colors. I also liked the Russian cover, probably because I didn’t read this book so have no idea what I would picture her to look like. I would rather have seen a drawing than a model that looks so polished though.

  3. What a fun cover to compare! I agree with you on least favorite. There’s something about the girl that doesn’t fit with the story idea. I kind of like the first cover. A little less blood than on the second one! Your winner is very pretty!

  4. Oh I know where that quote is from too! XD
I love pirates too, I’m writing my own book with them in it right now. 😛
I also really loved the DOTPK duology. I just finished DOTSQ the other day! It’s so cool that you have a personalized message in it! O.O
