About 5 months ago I read The Tea Dragon SocietyΒ and I was blown away by the artwork.Β It is seriously gorgeous.Β I found the story too short and slightly underdeveloped but I loved the world and the little Tea Dragons.Β When I heard there was a companion story coming out I was super excited and immediately requested it from Net Galley.
The Tea Dragon Festival has a super cute story, and while it felt more developed than The Tea Dragon Society, it was still too short.Β I thought the conclusion concerning the mythical beast part was super lame, and I would have liked to see it more fleshed out, but overall I liked the rest of the story.
One thing that I found super cool was that it included a character that could only communicate through Sign Language.Β I really liked how the signing was demonstrated and I think it will make this book super special to kids with auditory and vocal handicaps.
As always, I loved Katie O’Neill’s art.Β It is weirdly simple yet super magical, and its amazing.Β I read through the book twice just so I could truly appreciate it.Β The art is what makes The Tea Dragon Festival truly fantastic.
Okay: I must get these books. They are SO CUTE.

I loved The Tea Dragon festival because it was just so adorable and feel-good, and I can’t wait to read this one as well! I definitely agree that the first one felt too short, but that’s mostly because I would happily read about tiny tea dragons for hundreds more pages haha. The art style in these is truly gorgeous even though it’s so simple! Great review! π

Great review and I’m so glad you enjoyed it π I agree that the stories are always too short because I always just want more π The art work really is simple but magical. I love the combination of the style and color and how it complements the cute story so well. Can’t wait for more of these! Lol
