Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. May is Wyrd & Wonder Month, celebrating all things Fantasy!
The topic is technically Favorite Books Released In the Last Ten Years (one book per year), but I am tweaking that to be:
Favorite Fantasy* Books Released In the Last Ten Years
*Fantasy and Fantasy Adjacent (i.e The Princess and the Fangirl isn’t actually a fantasy novel, but it is super geeky and makes a ton of fantasy references, so I consider it an honorary fantasy book!)
2009
2010
2011
2012
2013
2014
2015
2016
2017
2018
2019
I know that there are waaaay more than 10 books here, and this is top TEN Tuesday, so here are my top ten favorites from the books listed above:
Great list! I LOVE Dark Triumph – I really need to read Mortal Heart!

Thanks! The author of Pirate King is going to be at the Con I am going to this weekend and I am super excited!

It’s interesting to see how it differs each year. I guess some years were better than others for fantasy reads?
Awesome take on the prompt!

Hahah I was wondering if its all just random and its a weird coincidence that I didn’t have a lot of books some of the years, or if 2010 was really just a bad year for fantasy? Thanks!

So many great books on here. I really need to get on Saga and those Sarah Kuhn books. One Con Glory was a great read as well.
My favorites are probably Uprooted, Nimona and Vicious!

Uprooted is one of my favorite books of all time ❤ And if yoiu liked One Con Glory I think you will like Kuhn's other books 😀

I love your twist on the prompt, I think this was a great way to approach it! Lots of books to consider and think about!!

Thanks 😀 Haha it was way to hard to just pick one book!

Oh wow your list makes mine feel super inadequate! Lol. But it looks like you’ve got some good ones on there! I love the Saga series and Nimona. A lot of these others are still on my TBR.

Haha your list is definitely not inadequate, you are probably just better at making decisions and was actually able to pick a single book like the prompt called for! 😂😂 I am super indecisive and didn’t even want to try!

I love how you organized your list. It was harder than I expected to narrow things down to one of each year.

Thanks! Hahah that is why I didn’t even try, I knew there was no way I could pick only one!

Ahh so nostalgic ❤ I loooved Hunger Games and Divergent when they came out–hard to believe it's been so long!

I was thinking the same thing! It has been forever! Those are some of the only series that I got sucked into the hype of before I started blogging ❤

I really need to read Nimona sometime. You’ve reminded me that I’m interested in it, so thanks. 🙂

So many great picks on this list! I love Vicious, and I intend to check out more VE Schwab books soon. I’m so looking forward to reading the Nevernight series, too (but, you know, closer to the release of the third book so I don’t have quiiiite so long to wait on that one). The Cruel Prince was so good, and I loved Sky in the Deep. Can’t wait for The Girl the Sea Gave Back!
Here’s my TTT post.

Thanks!!! It is super smart to wait to read Nevernight till closer to the release! Its driving me nuts waiting!!! And I can’t wait for Queen of Nothing either! Haha 🙂 The Girl The Sea Gave Back has a gorgeous cover but I am not pining over it quite so bad as the others only because I am not waiting on cliff hangers from the previous books 😂

Ugh, that’s true. Cliffhangers are the bane of my existence, but it can’t be said that they aren’t effective!

This is such an incredible selection and so thorough. I really liked the princess and the fangirl and saga too. And I’m super keen for sky in the deep. also fantasy adjacent is a great term!
LikeLike
Thanks 🙂 Hahah Goodreads made it super easy! I love the term Fantasy Adjacent, but I can’t take credit for it. I don’t know where it was where I saw it but it has stuck with me.

I love the variety you have here, and you’ve listed some of my favorites as well. It’s really hard to choose only 10, right?
LikeLiked by 1 person
Haha choosing my overall 10 wasn’t so bad because I was able to choose multiples from the same year and none from other years 😂 but it would have been impossible for me to choose one per year 😂

This is really cool! I love also seeing how the covers have progressed over the years 🙂

Thanks! I hadn’t even thought to look at the covers as they progressed but that is really cool 🙂

Ah, I wish I had done something like this, because choosing 1 book per year was just so hard! 2017 looked like a very good year for you!

Haha you should have! I hate making decisions and I knew there was no way I could pick only one book per year 😀

Great idea to tweak the prompt.
So many unread books there. I read The Hunger Games Trilogy and the first one was the best.

I love Felicia Day ❤ (and this book is still on my TBR list for what feels like forever…) I fell in love with her work through the Guild web-series. It's the most hilarious thing ever. I started watching it, while I was playing World of Warcraft and it just spoke to me. 😀
I still re-watch from time to time.

I do too ❤ I fell in love with her through Supernatural and then watched the Guild and the read the book haha. The Guild is awesome! Have you seen Critical Role? It sounds like it might be similar but I don't know?
