Song Request Book Tag

I was tagged by Siobhan @ Novelties! She is my go-to for fun, different, and unique tags! And this one is definitely super unique.  Its also super hard! But I am up for the challenge because it sounds fun too!

Siobhan’s Songs:

I have never heard of any of Siobhan’s songs, but I really liked them all, especially “Legend” (Its a good thing I liked them because I listened to them each like 5 times in a row trying to pick the perfect book!)

My first thought was Jude from The Cruel Prince / The Wicked King.  My second thought was Victor from Vicious / Vengeful.  Both these characters are ruthless in their single-minded pursuit of … something.  But neither of them are after fame?

To me this song is about the ruthless single minded pursuit of fame.  And since neither Jude nor Victor are necessarily after fame, its not a perfect fit, but this song just seems to fit Victor, so I am going to go with Vicious! (I haven’t read Vengeful so its possible something in the sequel would change my perspective?)

This sounds like a super unhealthy relationship, but it is also still intriguing in a guilty pleasure sort of way! This one was actually a super easy choice, I am going to go with Paper Princess.  I know the romance is super messed up but I still enjoyed reading it and I completely devoured the entire series.

“Walk through the Fire” by Zayde Wolf feat. Ruelle

This song is very haunting, and I am drawing a blank, I can’t think of any book couple that fits.  I feel like they need to have a great love for each other but face incredible difficulties that are constantly trying to pull them apart.  I feel like the couple needs to be so completely in love as to do anything to be together, even if it is self destructive and dangerous.  They may question if it is worth it, but they will always fight on.

The closest I can come is Marko and Alana from Saga, but I don’t feel like their story is dark enough.  They have too many stolen moments of tranquility and peace, and I feel like this song needs a more explosive fire-fight of a constantly tragic story? But I can’t think of a better example.

Yay! My turn 🙂 I was very tempted to take the easy way out and choose “Somebody to Love” which obviously should remind everyone of Ella Enchanted, but I wanted a little bit more of a challenge than that!

I’ve mentioned this in a previous post or two, but this song always reminds me of Saga.  And since I chose Saga for one of Siobhan’s songs, I had to choose it, if only to show why I was unhappy with my choice above.  If you listen to both songs, they are, at their core, about fighting through the fire of tough times.  (kind of?) But they have completely different tones, and for some reason this one seems to fit Saga so much better! (In my opinion)

I love this song! And it totally reminds me of The Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy! One of my favorite themes of this book was that it is okay to be girly and you can be girly and smart.  Felicity learns this about Johanna who is brilliant and also super frilly!  Plus with Felicity, Johanna, and Sim being completely different people but still all being amazing, I loved this story and I think it goes perfectly with this song!

I think this song can describe any book with a strong family unit, but it reminds me specifically of the Weasleys and the battle at Hogwarts.  Molly is as fierce and loyal as any mother I have ever encountered in fiction.  And the siblings all fight for each other as well as for what they believe is right! Even Percy comes back when it really matters.  Plus the Weasleys family is not just Weasleys, they have a habit of adopting strays (Harry, Remus, Fluer, Hermione, etc) In the battle at Hogwarts they come together and they all fight even though there is no chance they will all win.
