Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl.

New-to-Me Authors I Read In 2018

In 2018 I read 77 books by 58 different authors. 50 of those authors were new to me. I am surprised how high that number is!! I only read 19 books by authors I have read before and 9 of those were re-reads.  It would probably be more meaningful to write about the 8 authors who were good enough to re-visit!  But that is not the topic! So without further ado, here are the top 10 new-to-me authors in 2018:

V.E. Schwab (i.e. Victoria Schwab)

I can’t believe I have never read anything by Victoria Schwab prior to 2018!!! I ended up reading 4 books by her! And I loved them all ❤  I tried reading a 5th (Vengeful) but just couldn’t get into it.  Tho, I do want to try again someday because the rest of her books were so amazing!

Tanya Huff

The Fire’s Stone was one of my favorite reads of 2018!  I really want to read more by her, and I think I will start with The Silvered.

Jay Kristoff

I love both these books and can’t wait for the 3rd book which is supposed to come out in September!!

Tricia Levenseller

I got to meet Tricia Levenseller at Denver Comic Con (now Denver Pop Culture Con) and she was super nice!! And these books are awesome ❤

I first read Heartstone back in June and I absolutely loved it! I am actually re-reading it right now because the sequel recently came out and I want to refresh my memory of Heartstone before I read it!

Adrienne Young

I loved Sky in the Deep, it was super good and I loved reading about vikings!

Ashley Poston

Geekerella was by far the best Cinderella retelling I have ever read or watched.  And I can’t wait for The Princess and the Fangirl which is set to come out in April!

Erin Morgenstern

I feel like I should have read this book years ago.  I know its not actually a classic but so many people love it, I am surprised it took me so long to read it.

Ernest Cline

9969571

This is another book I feel like I should have read years ago.

Holly Black

I loved The Cruel Prince and I just finished re-reading it and am going to be starting The Wicked King soon!!

Who was your favorite author that you discovered in 2018? Have you read any of mine? Let me know!

  1. I’ve got Daughter of the Pirate King sitting on my shelf waiting to be read. I also have somehow avoided The Night Circus and really need to read that one soon too!

      1. I actually did start listening to the audiobook a few months ago, but couldn’t get into it in that format. I’m definitely going to read the actual book this time, haha.

  2. The only author I read from your list is Holly Black! I wasn’t a fan of The Cruel Prince overall, but I loved the world and Jude, so I’m in for The Wicked King. Plus I SHOULD get to Schwab because I feel like I’m the last one, but every time I say that, I forget about it. Whoops.

  3. Geekerella was so cute! I want to read her new book too. I still haven’t gotten to any of Schwab’s books, despite seeing raves everywhere I turn. 🙂 Maybe this will be the year! I keep hearing that I should read Tanya Huff’s books too. Great list!

  4. Erin Morgenstern and Ernest Cline are great, I love their books! I still haven’t read anything by Victoria Schwab or Jay Kristoff, which I hate because they sound so good!! I need to read them soon. And I actually won a goodreads giveaway of Heartstone a while ago and I’m so excited to read it!!

  5. The Nevernight Chronicles are SO freakin’ good and the third book is at the tippy top of my Most Anticipated List for 2019.

The Night Circus is one I rave about and she has another book coming out this year!!!

And I really need to finish the Shades of Magic trilogy. I’ve only read the 1st, but have the other two. Just need to find the time…

Sounds like you had a great reading year in 2018. 😀
