The Book Addiction Tag

I was tagged by Bibi @ Bibi’s Book Blog!  She is awesome and her blog reflects that! Go check it out!  Thanks for the tag Bibi!

What is the longest amount of time you can comfortably go without picking up a book?

I have gone months before without reading but there are also times where I can’t even go hours without reading.  It depends on the mood I am in and the book I am reading!

How many books do you carry on your person (or kindle) at any one time?

Hmm this one is tough.  Right now I have been carrying around 2 books and my kindle, but it depends on where I am going, if I am going to have downtime, how long I will be gone, etc.

Do you keep every book you buy/receive or are you happy to pass them on to make space for more?

I keep them! They are mine. No Touchy.

How long would you spend in a bookshop on a standard visit?

Usually when I go to a book store I have a specific book in mind and try to tell myself just to grab that book and go but I still end up spending 45 min to an hour in the store.  If I am going to browse then all bets are off!

How much time per day do you actually spend reading?

Probably on average about 3?

Where does the task ‘picking up a book’ appear on your daily to-do list?

Once I start reading I don’t want to stop so unless I am waiting in a line or something it tends to be the last thing on my to-do list so that I actually do the other items on my list.

How many books do you reckon you own in total (including e-books)?

I own a little over 500 physical books, almost 250 ebooks, and 15 Audio books.  So total 775 ish books!

Approximately how often do you bring up books in conversation?

In person, almost never, because most of the people in my daily life don’t read that often.  But I talk about books all the time with other bloggers!

What is the biggest book (page count) you have finished reading?

A Storm of Swords by George R.R. Martin at 1,177 pages

Is there a book you had to get your hands on against all odds i.e searching bookshops, online digging etc?

Nope.  Tho, someday I would like to own a rare copy of Pride and Prejudice!

A book you struggled to finish but refused to DNF?

Three Musketeers.  I was reading it on my kindle and didn’t realize it was so long. I thought it was about the length of Pride and Prejudice but it turned out to be almost 3 times as long. So it seemed like it was dragging on forever.

What are 3 of your main book goals for 2018?

  1. 75 Books
  2. Blog Lots
  3. Enjoy Reading

I don’t really set goals for myself.  So other than reading 75 books this year I don’t really have a goal.

Have you ever had the privilege of converting someone into a reader (maybe via inspiration or incessant nagging)?

Yes! My friend Phil! I convinced him to read Pride and Prejudice when we first met and he fell in love with reading!!  Now he is my go-to person when I want to talk about books!

Describe what books mean to you in five words.

  1. Love your answers. “No touchy” So much yes. hahahaha. I keep my books too. I’m hoping my kids will be readers and then I don’t have to buy them again. 🙂

  2. Great answers 🙂 I used to let people borrow my books, but then a former colleague “disappeared” with my second book in the Percy Jackson series, and now my physical collection is incomplete. No more. Now my books are MINE, and there’s no touchy what so ever!
