My Choice: A Study in Scarlet
For Friday Face-Off: Smoke I chose The Complete Sherlock Holmes, so this one is similar but not the same!
Covers:
Digireads.com 2005 | Penguin Classics 2001 | BBC Books 2012 | Penguin 2008
Penguin Books 2014 | Edimat Libros 2006 | Balzer + Bray 2015 | Mondadori 2004
Penguin 2011 | Wisehouse Classics 2016 | Classic Mysteries | Livre de Poche 1995
Global Notícias 2009 | Modern Library 2003 | Headline 2006 | ? 2011
There are 1,302 Editions of A Study In Scarlet on Goodreads. I am sure a lot of those are duplicates but that is still a LOT of covers! I picked the firs 16 covers from Goodreads for today’s post because there is no way I could include all the covers!

I definitely agree with your choice. I also agree with the least favourite. The second one you show was definitely the one I went ugh when I saw it.

Its awful! I know dead bodies are unnatural but they just went to far with the weird angles of his hands and head! What were they thinking?

What an excellent choice of book for this week’s theme – I also think my favourite is the Penguin Classic cover. Some of them do look a bit cartoonish, which isn’t remotely the right tone for Conan Doyle. Have a great weekend, Brittany:)

🙂 I think that is why I liked the Penguin Classic cover best! It has the right tone for Sherlock Holmes! There are others that aren’t even close! Thanks 😀 you too!

I like the simplicity of the Modern Library edition, but I also love the one you chose. So many covers, it’s nice to have a good selection!

I think I would like the Modern Library one better if the guy was bigger. I just feel like he is out or proportion with the gates?

Great choice! Lots to choose from this week. Weirdly enough, my eye was kind of drawn to one of your least favorites, the Penguin 2008. I don’t know if I like it, but it’s certainly eye catching. The murder victim’s face kind of freaks me out though, lol.

I don’t disagree haha. It is very eye-catching. Just not in a good way (at least for me!) 🙂

Funnily enough I wondered about looking at some of the Sherlock covers for this theme. I love your choice although I would find it difficult to chose between both favourites as the blue cover is lovely too.

I wondered if people would like that one! I know a lot of people hate movie covers but I know so many people LOVE that version of Sherlock so I wondered if that would influence anyone haha. I like that one too! 😀
