Hey All! Right now (as I am writing this) its 1:07 AM! This is the earliest I have ever written this tag. By the time it posts I will be at Comic Con!!! I am super excited! But, because of the Con, I won’t be posting and commenting much this weekend! I will catch up with everyone on Monday!
This is a weekly meme created by Books by Proxy, but kept up by Lynn’s Book Blog.
“Live in the saddle. Die on the hog.”
This weeks theme: A cover featuring riders.
My Choice: Eragon
Christopher Paolini is going to be at Comic Con!! I am going to try and get his signature! In honor of Comic Con and Christopher Paolini I chose Eragon this week! I was able to find a cover where Eragon is riding Saphira!

It was super hard to pick a winner! Of the favorites I chose, the 2nd one is the copy I have. The 3rd one is awesome but its kind of Norse mythology feeling and that doesn’t really fit the book. The 4th I LOVE the art work but he kind of looks like he slayed the dragon which isn’t right either. But Saphira looks so cute! It is so close to being my favorite, but I can’t get over that he looks too dragon-slayer ish.
Which one is your favorite? Do you agree with my pick? Let me know in the comments!
Wow, so many great covers! I actually love the Paolini International cover, for some reason the covers with the dragon’s eye are really “eye” catching, lol. Have a wonderful time at Comic Con!

Haha so I went to a Panel this weekend that Christopher Paolini was part of and he was the first on there so he just told Dragon puns until the other panelist showed up 😂 I’m sure he would appreciate your pun!! I like that one too, but I love blues on covers and there isn’t any blues!

I love the third one! I get your point about it being a bit Norse looking, but it’s so pretty!

It is really pretty! I couldn’t help putting it in my favorites even though I don’t feel that it really goes with the book itself.

I love the Doubleday Childrens 2013 edition, it’s just so elegant! Overall, a lot of these covers are wonderful though, I’m a big fan of the blue theme that most of them have going 🙂

I really love that one too! But it just doesn’t do a very good job of catching the essence of the book (in my opinion) But I agree I love all the blues!!

Gorgeous covers. Pity the third favourite doesn’t fit. I really liked that one 🙂

Oh man, I too took one look at your fourth choice and thought ‘Wait, Did Eragon *slay* a dragon at some point?’ Had I forgotten that bit? I’m sad that I’ve never seen a copy with him actually riding Saphira, that’s absolutely gorgeous!

I had that same thought! I love the art style so much on that cover but the placement of the characters is just bad!

It definitely should be a rule that, whenever you think you’re cover design is done, you take it to a colleague who has no idea what book you’re working on, hold it up and ask them what they think the book’s about. It would catch these kinds of things immediately because if the first guess they venture is ‘dragon-slayers and stuff?’ then you know you need to go back to the drawing board immediately!

Yes! That is a great idea! Unless the person who drew it in the first place doesn’t really know what the story is either? They could have a group of fans of the book look at it too!

I agree with your pick Brittany because Eragon is actually riding Saphira on that cover and it is just a great cover.
