Friday Face-Off

Friday Face-Off: Seeds/Spores

This is a weekly meme created by Books by Proxy, but kept up by Lynn’s Book Blog.

“A little soil to make it grow”

This weeks theme: A cover featuring seeds/spores.

My Choice: Nim’s Island

(I googled it and coconuts are a seeds!!)

Yearling 2002 | Yearling 2008 | Puffin 1999
Knopf 2001 | Blackstone Audiobooks 2008 | Luis Vives 2008
Puffin 2008 | Edelvives 2014 | Zielona Sowa 2008

My Favorite:

This is probably an unpopular choice because a lot of people don’t like movie covers, but I just love how much spunk the little girl has, and its really the only cover that captures the adventure!

Which one is your favorite? Do you agree with my choice?

  1. I like the little girl as well, it reminds me of myself when I was little. I would go against the norm!! In the end, I am a very courageous woman. I lost mom when I was five, sent to boarding schools in HS, got married to an alcoholic, had a baby, went to AA, got myself cleaned up, quit drinking, divorced my man, was a single mom working four jobs for eleven years. Now my girl is out of the house, I have been in college for ten years and one more year to get my MBA in HRM. That is a strong person right?!!

  2. Ooh Nim’s Island- I think I saw that one! Cute movie. I think I like the first cover a lot, it looks kinda whimsical and I love the tropical feeling, but I also like the one you picked. It’s the most familiar because of the movie, and doesn’t look as middle grade-ish, maybe? the Luis Vives 2008 cover is good though too.

    1. I love the movie 😀 I saw it before I read the book! And as far as whimsical I like Knopf 2001 better than the first one, but I like the first one too. And the book is definitely middle grade so it makes sense the covers are too.
